What is an Invitation Letter?
An invitation letter is a document written by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to formally confirm that they are inviting a foreign national to visit them in Canada. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) may request this letter as part of a Temporary Resident Visa (visitor visa) application.
When Would You Use This?
- A family member from abroad is applying for a visitor visa to visit you in Canada
- A friend is applying for a temporary resident visa and needs proof of their accommodation and host
- IRCC has specifically requested an invitation letter as part of a visa application
